- PhotogrammetrySession-based object scan output
Device requirements
Requires Apple Object Capture and PhotogrammetrySession support on the iPhone. Best results come from stable, opaque, non-reflective objects with enough visual detail.
Object Capture for individual items
3D Objects mode is focused on physical items such as furniture, sculpture, products, and other standalone objects. It is not intended for full rooms or large environments.
On-device photogrammetry workflow
Voxelio uses Apple Object Capture and PhotogrammetrySession to process the object scan on-device. The result is a USDZ model that can fit into Apple-centered 3D and AR workflows.
USDZ models for product and creative work
USDZ output is useful for object review, AR placement, product visualization, and creative 3D reference. It gives you a portable model of the scanned item rather than a room-scale scan.
Pick objects that scan well
For better input, use stable, opaque objects with visible surface detail. Avoid shiny, transparent, plain, or moving objects, since those surfaces can make photogrammetry harder.
Choose the right mode for rooms
Use 3D Objects for individual items. For full rooms, choose Room Plan when you need structured walls and furniture, or Mesh Mode when you need LiDAR mesh geometry.

Dual Camera
Capture synchronized wide and ultra-wide HEVC video on supported iPhones, with single-camera fallback, intrinsics, and capture controls.
Gaussian Splatting
Record ARKit video with camera poses, intrinsics, and metadata for Gaussian splatting, plus optional depth maps and point cloud data.
Mesh Mode
Scan rooms and spaces with iPhone LiDAR, then export OBJ + MTL meshes with optional texture atlas, photo textures, or classification colors.
Point Cloud Mode
Capture colored AR depth samples on supported iPhones and export PLY point clouds with density, confidence, max depth, and preview controls.
Room Plan
Use Apple RoomPlan in Voxelio to scan structured rooms, detect walls, openings, furniture, and export USDZ + JSON.
FAQ
3D Objects questions
- What should I scan with 3D Objects mode?
- Use it for individual items such as furniture, sculpture, products, and physical objects with visible surface detail.
- What should I avoid scanning?
- Avoid shiny, transparent, plain, or moving objects because they are difficult inputs for photogrammetry.
- Does 3D Objects mode scan full rooms?
- No. Use Mesh Mode or Room Plan for rooms and spaces.
- What format does 3D Objects export?
- The mode creates USDZ models of individual objects.
- Is processing done on-device?
- Yes. The 3D Objects workflow uses Apple Object Capture and PhotogrammetrySession entirely on-device.
